Ingredients
- 2 oz Cognac
- ½ oz Orange
- ¼ oz Maraschino Liqueur
- ¾ oz Lemon Juice
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters (optional)
- superfine-sugar
- 1 whole Lemon
Instructions
- Prepare your serving glass (traditionally a large wine glass or modern coupe) by moistening the rim with a lemon wedge, then dipping it generously into superfine sugar to create a thick, 'crusted' rim.
- Carefully place a very long, wide strip of lemon peel (peeled from a whole lemon if possible) into the prepared glass, coiling it elegantly around the inside.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the brandy, dry orange curaçao, maraschino liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and Angostura bitters (if using) with ice.
- Shake vigorously until well-chilled.
- Carefully strain the mixture into the prepared glass, being mindful not to disturb the sugar rim or the lemon peel.
- Serve immediately.
